Betty is a watercolor artist and resides in Glasgow, Kentucky with her husband Bill. Currently serving as President of the Arts Guild of the Barrens, she is also a member of the Kentucky Watercolor Society, Scottsville Art Guild, Gallery on the Square, and ARTworks, Inc.
After retirement from the Glasgow-Barren County Chamber of Commerce, Betty pursued her desire to paint by taking watercolor classes and workshops in Kentucky, Tennessee, and North Carolina, under well-known art instructors. In all this has taken about 15 years in accomplishing.
Brogan loves painting with transparent watercolors. Her flower gardens give many bouquets and inspiration for painting them in “juicy colors”. Landscapes and portraits are also among her favorites in laying paint on watercolor paper.
Currently you may find Betty’s art hanging in the newly opened gallery, “212 on the MAIN”, located at 212 West Main St., Glasgow; WKU Glasgow Campus; Mary Wood Weldon Memorial Library; and, Gallery on the Square, Franklin, KY.
2013 honors and major awards include;
- Received the Special Purchase Award, and Merit Award, for watercolor, “Sunflowers II.
Sunflowers II appeared on cover of the August issue of SOKY Magazine.
- Honorable mention in the Kentucky Watercolor Society All Member Show for watercolor, “Angel Trumpets”.
- People’s Choice Award for watercolor, “Serenity”, Gallery on the Square, Franklin, KY
- Acceptance in Aqueous USA 2013, the Kentucky Watercolor Society’s 36th Annual national, juried exhibition for her painting “Pink Angel Trumpets”. The exhibit will run October 28 – December 23. At the Actor’s Theater of Louisville.
